The previous versions

I remember the time of Windows Server certifications. Last three Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) certifications Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2012, and Windows Server 2016 are well accepted.

MCSA 2008 was requiring three exams:

  • (70-640) Windows Server 2008 Active Directory, Configuring.
  • (70-642) Windows Server 2008 Network Infrastructure, Configuring.
  • (70-646) Windows Server 2008, Server Administrator.

You could upgrade MCSA 2008 to MCSA 2012 or MCSA 2016, and follow your path to keep certifications up to date.

The Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert certifications (MCSE) were even more appreciated than MCSA certifications. We can remember the MCSE Productivity or the MCSE Core Infrastructure.

To get the MCSE Productivity, you needed the MCSA 2012/2016 and one of these exams:

To obtain the MCSE Core Infrastructure, you needed the MCSA 2012/2016 and one of these exams:

The new version

Time passed and it is time to refresh the certifications on Windows Server, especially after the integration with the cloud and the new versions of Windows Server itself!

This time you cannot upgrade previous Windows Server certifications (MCSA 2008/2012/2016) to Windows Server Hybrid Administrator certification.

The world has changed, hybrid and cloud are common words, and Windows Server Hybrid Administrator certification fits the time perfectly! The certification is ideal for experts in managing Windows Server on-premises or in a hybrid environment. If you perform tasks related to Windows Server, this certification is for you!

The Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate certification and associated exams AZ-800 and AZ-801 are to be released in early December 2021. Take your time to prepare for the exams and be ready for them!

To earn this certification you need AZ-800: Administering Windows Server Hybrid Core Infrastructure and AZ-801: Configuring Windows Server Hybrid Advanced Services .
